Wolf and Zephyr's Ethical Jewellery
At Wolf and Zephyr, we started with a fundamental commitment to always operating with integrity. We wanted to make and sell jewellery in an ethical manner and we are proud of the way our jewellery is sourced. We aim to be transparent with our customers and the people we work with. This has been an important journey for Wolf & Zephyr as we grew from a market stand in Cheshire to working with artisan jewellery workshops across the world. Our founder Tori has always designed with a conscience and since the beginning of Wolf and Zephyr our highest priority has been using environmentally and socially responsible materials.
Ethical Jewellery Materials
We only use conflict-free gemstones which are handpicked for their quality and uniqueness. The most popular jewellery trend in the last couple of years is the use of recycled silver, we have always made our jewellery with recycled silver. We even use recycled silver in our gold vermeil pieces and our 14ct gold jewellery is also recycled. Using recycled silver cuts down CO2 emissions by 66% compared to mined silver. Surprisingly almost 80% of silver is still mined, rather produced from recycled silver.
Ethical Supply Chain
We try to make an impact close to home and far away, supporting local business by exclusively sourcing the 1990 collection from UK suppliers, to partnering with artisan workshops in India. You can read all about our founder Tori’s trip to India to find an ethical jewellery workshop in our supplier transparency page.
Our supplier partner process is the same, whether they are making jewellery or packaging. We look for high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, as well as ethical company principles with a positive environmental impact.
Partnerships & Causes We Support
We have partnered with many organisations to make sure our commitment is ongoing and that we are doing more than just the minimum. We are a member of “1% For The Planet” which means we donate at least 1% of our annual sales (not just profits) every year towards credible and important environmental causes. Recently we also partnered with Women’s Aid, in celebration of International Women’s Day, and we donated 10% of all sales from the 8th to the 14th of March.
This is just our progress so far. We don’t just want to be an eco-friendly jewellery brand, we want to lead the way with our partnerships, our sustainable and ethical sourcing strategy, making a better world for us, you and for the planet.
